The car that cares

2021 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid revealed in new images | Car News

On March 17th, Hyundai introduced the 2021 version of its Elantra design. The new technology is quite aggressively styled – a way to counter, if doable, the ongoing stampede in direction of SUVs.

Even so, yet another element that could encourage some consumers is the availability of a hybrid variant. While it was outlined for the duration of the March virtual presentation, no photographs were unveiled… until eventually now.

The Korean automaker has now shared photographs of the hybrid-run variant on line. In just about every single respect, it is practically a carbon duplicate of the gasoline-only design. One particular of the number of components distinguishing this version is the “hybrid” logo on the appropriate rear of the trunk lid. The decreased rear apron is also marginally diverse conceptually.

Hyundai has also revised the structure of the digital instrument panel to tell the driver of its “green” driving effectiveness, all many thanks to an Eco gauge. Like most hybrids, a diagram of the energy shipped and recovered by the car is also displayed on the multimedia process screen.

Gasoline consumption figures for this hybrid variant have not yet been shared, but it’s estimated that the common is around 4.7L/100 km. The car is run by a one.6L 4-cylinder engine, which is assisted by an electric motor. Combined horsepower is 139 and torque is 195 lb-ft it’s merged with a six-velocity dual-clutch automated transmission.

In contrast to the new Sonata Hybrid, the Elantra will not be equipped with a energy-producing sunroof. The gains manufactured with this ingredient remain marginal, about three kilometres a working day when the car is parked in the solar.

In principle, the first Elantra variants are expected to exhibit up at dealerships this tumble. For now, Hyundai has not yet declared any modifications to its launch agenda, but with the coronavirus pandemic raging, points could adjust swiftly.
