Basic Motors is seeking to establish a second battery manufacturing facility in the United States with South Korean joint venture spouse LG Chem, Reuters cited a Wall Avenue Journal report as saying on Thursday (4 March).
The corporations are close to completing a determination to locate the plant in Tennessee, the reviews reported. The WSJ cited unnamed resources “common with the make a difference”.
Neither GM nor LG responded quickly to Reuters’ requests for comment.
The two corporations are now building a US$2.3bn battery plant in northeast Ohio which is predicted to open next 12 months and at some point source sufficient batteries to electrical power hundreds of thousands of autos on a yearly basis.
