Our photographers spotted two Ranger prototypes, each sporting a spherical yellow sticker that usually signifies a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. Ford has previously hinted that the next-generation Ranger will be presented as an electrified model, likely a PHEV. Rumors propose Ford will pair its two.three-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder to an electrical motor, manufacturing 362 horsepower and 501 lb-ft of torque.
There are at the moment no PHEV pickup vans on the market place in the US, so the Ranger could offer a nice center-ground for prospective buyers who aren’t ready for a entire EV, like the F-150 Lightning. Eventually, an all-electrical Ranger will arrive on the market place, likely sporting the Splash name that was trademarked earlier this calendar year.
